So this really should be my motto when it comes to blogging....SLACKER! I have made it a goal to get better, sometimes I just think my life will bore everyone to tears! WELL...in light of this momentous occassion of me actually posting something I will recap important events of the past few weeks....
1. My sister had her 12th birthday. She is officially in Young Womens and I envy her. Oh how I miss fun and often endless chorus' of "ride that pony" and "just standing" to say the YW theme. The R.S. has it's perks though....mostly just the climate change (I swear that room reaches sauna temperatures) and the wonderful 'happy moments' time has extended to 'good news minutes.'
She is a lovely poser
For her special day we took a fantastic trip to the University Mall and spent our day shopping. Isn't fun to almost be a teenager? *I'm sure my parents beg to differ*

This is her natural look, such a charm

She also had a "princess" birthday party which was....noisy. It was kinda funny that she would choose the theme to be princess because VanVan isn't really into the froofy girly stuff, but it was fun to primp her up anyway.

The party princesses

2. I had my interview....AHHHHH!!!! As many of you know I am working my way into an internship with Disney. I have been biting my nails off hoping to get in. Well I had my FINAL interview over the phone on Oct. 30 so I hope things went alright! I won't hear for 4-6 weeks, YIKES! I think the interview went well, I refrained from making any dumb jokes or answering the yes or no questions wrong (have you been convicted in the past 5 years? umm...yes?? wait convicted of wha?) So cross your fingers for me! If I do get in I will be moving to Florida in the beginning of January and stay at least until the end of May. I'm really excited about this, mostly because I get to play with Mickey all day and I LOVE that happy-magical feeling of Disney :)

3. My birthday...I'm TWENTY! I should just start heading for the grave now, I'm just so old! My birthday was wonderful, I didn't have to work or go to school, just hang out with some friends and have a relaxing day. I loved the gifts I got, thanks guys!

4. HALLOWEEN! I LOVE this holiday! I love dressing up and getting excited to go and trick or treat! I have been TONS of things over the years; some of my favorites have been Minnie Mouse, Pebbles from the Flintstones, Jasmine, and this year I went as a classic zombie. Natalie and I had a splendid day perusing around stores and found a BRILLIANT get-up for her at 'Dindistries' (When my brother was younger her couldn't say Deseret Industries so he called it dindistries and it stuck). She found this foam adult-Ariel costume from the little Mermaid. We both just about had some heart palpitations when she tried it on we were laughing so hard. She bought this wicked-awesome costume and just so happened to have a red wig that went well. We took a trip to walmarto to find some face paint for me and probably terrified the poor woman in the bathroom when I put it on. I scared many children that night, but it's a good thing I had Ariel with me or I would have scared the parents too.
Nat and I went to the movie Momma Mia while we waited for a party we were going to to start. Now I loved this film, the singing was awesome (except for Pierce Brosnan), the dancing was great (except for Pierce Brosnan), and over all it was an A+ show (except for Pierce Brosnan). What really ruined it for me the second time around was surprisingly not Pierce, it was this lady in the isle next to us who sang along to EVERY ABBA SONG IN THE MOVIE! I love Abba, very much, but just because you're a theater major doesn't mean you should re-enact the whole movie! Oi!
After the show we were a little hungry so we went to 'get sconed' at sconecutters. I don't know who is in charge of their marketing but who would ever think of "let's go get sconed" as a slogan?? Seriously?? Anywho, we went there and as soon as we walked in we had the little children staring at us the entire time. I wonder what it would have been like as a child to see a zombie with frightening make-up and hair with Ariel out of the sea eating some french fries? I really wanted just to go up to the kids and look them in the eyes and just say "boo" but that would have made them cry. So I refrained. Overall it was a great night!

My beautiful punkin I carved

Nat and I in our lovely costumes

Bret went as Michael Phelps, his idol. And yes, Bob always has this look on his face.

Vanessa went as a fairy....this was a costume of mine that she borrowed that worked out well. Her hair took FOREVER!! The makeup looked awesome too.

Well that's about it for now. School and work is the bane of my existence for the time being, so that's what I get to look forward too. I hope everyone is doing well...I will try to start blogging a bit more. I gotta get this page in shape for my *hopeful* move to Florida. Wish me luck!!

I will get better....pinky swear

So I am discovering how bad I am at actually posting a blog, so I had some inspiration (mostly just a 'duh Jocelyn' moment) and decided that I already blog twice a week at work, so I'll just post it on here :) At one of my jobs--I have two main ones--I work at 1-800-Contacts. I'm an 'Rx Specialist,' just a fancy shmancy title for a someone that talks to doctors and reads a lot of prescriptions. Anyways, twice a week I send out an email I write to a few buddies at work that basically sums up the things on my mind. I figured I might as well post them here too, since that's basically what blogging is all about no? Yes, I'm sure you're all going to roll your eyes and think how dumb can she be, but there you go. So here it comes :) ENJOY!

*please read the following intro as if this is a 60 minutes episode*
(tick tick tick tick…..big stop watch here) Tonight on a two-part special edition of Complaining on Wednesdays and Things I like Fridays, Jocelyn colorfully discusses her horrid week she has had thus far….

Let's Complain on Wednesdays

Things I don't like:

1. Monday. Specifically this last Monday around 9:45 am. I was running late for school…as usual…. And just driving south on I-15. And duh, of course I was speeding. Have I ever gone the speed limit? That's just a silly question. I am no newbie to cops as I have been pulled over about 3 times in the past 2 months. Some how, out of all these times I have gotten out of a ticket. Just a warning. Well I guess my luck ran out and I got pulled over. The flashing lights of the officer's bike just made me laugh. I was in a great mood for some reason, but it started to fade as he came to my window and told me I was clocked at going 86. He was cool about it though. Thankfully he dropped it down to 75 so my ticket is only $82. No 82 isn't cheap but it's better than it would have been. And I don't have to go to court or anything, just mail in a check. How convenient. I'm surprised he didn't give me an already addressed envelope. I hate their tight stirrup pants too. Ew!

2. Tuesdays. Specifically this last Tuesday around 11:45 am. I wasn't feeling so good at my other job but was trying to work through it and make some faxes. I had somewhat inhaled my breakfast, NOT a good idea, and was now getting nauseous. Well I got that teeth-gritting feeling that tells my feet to run to the bathroom. I had my cell phone in my hands and some papers, but had to take them with me. I got in, locked the stall, dropped to my knees and well you can use your imagination. I had placed the papers and my cell phone on the top of the lid to the tank thingy and didn't think twice about them. Well I flushed and was just cleaning up when it happened. My mobile device took a dive into the toilet. This was quickly followed by me gasping and my hand in the bowl. GROSS. Yeah, then my phone slowly dimmed and I felt like my heart was wrenching, not because I'm addicted to my phone, but because this phone is green and represents MONEY. IT WAS SOOOO EXPENSIVE!!....... (Barbra Walters voice here) Stay tuned for the rest of this story further on in our show

3. Wednesdays. Specifically this morning around 7:55 am. I dragged my feet into my bathroom after waking up. I noticed that my rug was partially folded over so I just started to lift it back over when I smelled a peculiar odor. I probably rolled my eyes and I had a feeling I knew what was coming. There is was. My cat had left a not so fantastic present right on my perfectly color-coordinated rug. Yeah, EWW.

4. Thursdays. I'm sure something will happen tomorrow. I'm waiting for my hand to get slammed in a door or a poke in the eye.

5. Fridays. Just because I have to work. And my school schedule has a gap in it on this day. That really makes it hard to stay at school.

Things I like on Fridays and in this case on Wednesdays

Things I like:

1. (Charles Gibson voice now) "We no return to our feature story…." So my semi-ok mood faded almost instantly to gloomy. I loved this phone. I loved EVERYTHING about this phone and it wouldn't power on :( Well at the advice of pretty much everyone I took out the battery and the SIM card and let it dry. I would put it back together every now and then and nothing. Well when I got home from work my dad got out a blow-dryer and began heatin away. It WORKED! HALLELUJAH PRAISE SUPERMAN! I am so happy. So I am now in love with hair dryers. Thank you Conair and my genius Padre!

2. People that don't pick up shifts even though they've been posted for a MONTH. They make life more challenging. And I just LOVE a challenge.

3. OREGON! I'm going to Portland on Saturday for some good R & R. YAY! I'm sooooo excited! This is also the reason for this special edition, I won't be back until next Thursday :) *This trip was cancelled by the way...thank you mother nature, you're beautiful snow storm in the Cascades lends a hand once again :(

4. Giving Gifts. I love when you have the PERFECT gift for someone and you can't wait to give it to them. I'm always just as excited as they are.

5. Halloween movies. I HATE being scared, but I'm talking about the really dumb animated ones that we all grew up with. Every time I see Ichabod Crane and the headless horseman I STILL freak out. The special effects are just unreal.

BONUS! 6. I love it when men use the term Spooky. Or describing something as Cute. It makes me laugh.

-Question: What are you all being for Halloween? And just humor me if you aren't dressing up :)

Well boys and girls, that's about it for me! I hope you all have a great rest of the week and pray or meditate or whatever you do for me that karma will just go find someone else :) talk to you all later!

For the two of you...

So for the two of you that read my blog, I thought I'd maybe get back to posting some stuff. Well life has been going crazy, just school and work work work! I am looking forward to a few trips coming up in October and November so watch out for a post card!
Anyway, last night I was bored and stumbled upon this intriguing site called
Makemebabies. As you guessed it, I spent forever on this site! It made me laugh pretty hard to realize that Elvis and I would have the most unfortunate looking child. Patrick Dempsey was a tad better, but not by much. What do you think? Pretty scary eh?

Best of Both Worlds Election

With this upcoming election, I wanted to share with you all some wisdom on who to vote for this year. In my opinion Hilary Clinton somewhat closely resembles Clay Aiken. Anyone that might be confused for a Spamalot character who sings about being 'invincible' should not be elected. Also we do not need any more controversy regarding Bill Clinton... I mean come on. We have more important people to gossip about (ie. Mariah Carey's new engagement, Britney's lack of hair and sanity, etc.) I also don't think Johnny-Tsunami McCain would make a good choice either, because he has that weird growth on his face. eww. And the fact that his Barbie-wife looks like she is trying to possess people with her mind powers while he is speaking isn't very cool. Barak Obama would be a better choice, however the fact that his name is not really Americanese and he can't decide how black he should be kinda bothers me. So, I decided that we should all write in a wholesome, family-friendly individual who's love for this country and music can inspire us all.....

Introducing to you our next President of the United States of America

It could be her double-image, or her gummy grin but this little cutie is sure to warm hearts all over the world by "just being Miley" as one of her songs subtly points out. Her presence on every single isle in every walmart on the face of this solar system as well as her achy-breaky dad just makes me want to talk a little louder and wear a nice wig. So please vote for Miley this season, because you'll get the best of both worlds.

This I learn from the galaxy

Today in my Astronomy class I was just sitting quietly in my cushy seat imagining a shooting star coming to destroy the projection screen when all of a sudden this kid, who shall remain anonymous, plops down next to me. There were only about 4 other people in the class besides me, leaving plenty of seating options for this erroneous kid to pick from...but of course I have a natural magnetism for anyone that wears socks with sandals and pleated pants. He began to take out what looked like a large satellite phone with a laser beam at the end and for a moment I thought I might get blown up, but alas it was just some sort of homemade sci-fi planner.

The professor continued to lecture on planetary formation when this kid started to sneeze uncontrollably. I thought there must be something in the air he must be allergic to, hopefully it was me so I would have an excuse to move over a bit. Instead he takes out of his massive backpack some nasal spray and begins using it like a drug! He finally takes his last sniff, probably because it was empty, and then gets some clippers off his key chain and starts to clip his finger nails. Now I'm all for a polished appearance and personal grooming but isn't there somewhere else you can do that? So that the little clippings won't have a chance to get on me. EWW! Finally to finish off the class period he crosses one leg over the other and begins to play with his socks. Now I have a strong sock phobia and detest the tubular material however when I need to I'll wear some. This kid has permanently scarred me by taking a pen and making holes in them. I don't know what he was trying to find, but magically he found his toes and stretched the hole to get them all through. Needless to say I left class a bit early with a strong feeling I needed a shower. If the galaxy class has taught me one thing it's be late and pick your own seat so you don't have the misfortune of having someone like barnyard-boy sit by you.

Fishy Fishy

While I sit here in the computer lab called 'the fishbowl' at UVU, I feel much like a fish. Not because of the fishy face that I enjoy making, but because I feel like an observer confined to a small tank with colorful rocks at the bottom. This is why I decided to start a blog; to share my view of this lovely world and find something else to waste my time with :) So sit back and enjoy my sarcastic, silly, and sometimes very opinionated look at my life and the people in it.
