LIKE A JOB!!
I LOVED FLORIDA
I had so much fun and was able to do some of the most incredible things while I was there. I would definitely recommend the Disney College Program to anyone. I met some of the coolest people and made some really great friends while I was there.
Meet my cute roommate Raven! Quick little facts about her: she's from Michigan, is a very talented dancer/choreographer, pre-med, has strange taste in food (only teasing), and is SERIOUSLY going to be a model. While we were here in Disney she worked her dream job at Epcot main gate. I was so lucky to get such a great roomie and amazing new best friend. I have many MANY funny stories about this girly and I'm so excited for her to come and visit in August! We had tons of silly stories and bonded over our love for My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Gossip Girl, our disgust for the grounds keepers, and talking with foreign accents. The first night there we stayed up until 4am laughing at horrible baby names and making jokes about textured wall paper. She is just a lovely friend and am so happy to have met her! This is another roommate Shannon from Rochester, NY. Shannon has a love for foreign boys named Roddy and worked at Downtown Disney Merchandise. My favorite thing about her is her laugh....SO cute! I also loved when Kindall would yell out SSSSHHHHAAANNNNOOONNNN in like the middle of the night when everyone was trying to sleep. Good times!
Rachel and I saluting our "Disney Points". We worked together in Fantasyland :) Pixie dust anyone?
CHRISSSS! Hey could you get the castle in the picture? Goof Balls
Gustavo and I. He is from Brazil and seriously knows how to cook!!
While I was down in Disney I was lucky enough to have some of my favorite people come and visit me. I'm sure some of you are wondering about this boy of mine, well let me introduce you! This is Eric Taylor, my very sweet boyfriend. Eric and I met last year after his mission and became really fast friends and just that up until I left for Florida. We continued talking and like grew to love and here we are now :) I'm so happy to be home and get to see him all the time. He's amazing! Trust me...There will be many more posts about him.It rained the entire time Eric was in Florida, and not just the normal summer-afternoon rain. This is the tsunami rain that probably ruined many vacations, but not his! He was a good sport about it and I never heard him complain which was way nice. Of course I probably couldn't hear him because I was complaining so loud. We were pretty much permanently soaked everyday, but still had a ton of fun. This was right after riding splash mountain, drenched from head to toe. **There is a little more to the Eric-Jocelyn story so if you want more details lemme know**
My family also came to Florida to visit me :) They had a blast as well, even though the weather was the opposite and everyone was drenched in sweat. They decided their favorite park was Disney's Hollywood Studios and had a lot of fun in the animation studio, riding Toy Story Midway Mania (which I totally dominated....yes Vanessa you know that's true) and getting faces painted. I am so lucky to have a family that supports what I do and will come and visit me! I loved having them there. Also they got a rental car and stocked me up with groceries. Thanks guys! haha Classic Bret pose....trust me this kid will be famous someday. His favorite part of the vacation was swimming in the hotel pool and that's pretty much all he wanted to do. He's my Star Wars bud and enjoyed Star Tours and building lightsabers.
This is Vanessa and I with Andy Griffith. She loved going on the big rides and making sure I sat next to her. I was shocked when I saw her because she's 2 feet taller than me! Not really, but she will be soon!
Here's my momma getting her face painted. I love my mom! She was so cute and sent me little packages with goodies in them and I was the envy of the apartment. I loved the little 'mom' notes attached to things reminding me to do certain things and say my prayers :) Thanks mom! And if you need a Disney character drawn come and see her, she's an expert.
Here's my dad being an 'extra' in the Indiana Jones show. He's so goofy, but I'm glad he's up for anything. I love him for calling just to say hi or to tell me to have a good day. We never got to see the Country Bears (....darn) but we went on lots of fun things.
Well that's about it for now folks, I promise there is much much more to come!
I have always loved watching Disney movies and going to Disneyland with the family but there is something about being here and getting to see this beautiful castle everyday that makes me so happy. The little kids are probably my favorite part of this whole experience. I have heard some of the funniest things from these little people and it makes me excited to see how excited they are when they come into the parks.
This year the Walt Disney World theme is "What will you celebrate?" We have a ton of buttons and things that we give out to people to help them personalize their visit to the park. This one little girl that I met a while ago in the Castle Couture store really made my day. She had on a Happy Birthday button and her name happened to be Jocelyn. I wished her a Happy Birthday and told her my name was Jocelyn too and asked her if she wanted to make a wish with some pixi dust. She got so excited and grabbed my hand to help her find her sister, who happened to be her twin named Faith. I sprinkled the pixi dust in their hair and had them both make a wish. After that I showed them in the mirror how beautifully sparkly they were and started to walk to the register to help some other guests. Little Jocelyn grabs me by the hand and starts pulling me towards the princess dresses and told me that her wish was to look just like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I told her that she could try one on if she wanted to, but she just kept talking about her mom's visit to the dentist last week and the 2 cavities she has, then how Faith has to get new glasses because some kid in her 3rd grade class through them on the ground and on and on. Her mom was just watching us talk and asked if she could take a picture with them. *yes I felt famous. Then Jocelyn asked for my autograph in her character book :) Her mom said that I was making her whole day, but really she made mine. Little kids are the best!
Well I've discovered a list of 11 blogs that I need to do, so stay tuned for more. Adios!
Well here it is, home sweet home! I never imagined in a million years I would be living in an apartment with 7 other girls- Kindall, Sam, Maiika, Jill, Shannon, Ali and Raven-- and get along with all of them...not to say that I don't usually get along with people, that's just a lot of hormones! I love them all and it's a ton of fun! There is always someone to hang out with and Parties Parties Parties all the time! It's also fun because everyone is so different but we all get along so well.
I arrived in Detroit around 9 pm (their time) and didn't know where or what gate I was supposed to go to. I checked the screens and lucky me it was clear on the other side of the airport :) I sprinted to my next gate, hoping to make it on time... lucky I was the second to last person on the plane before they took off. Once again my seat was being used by a lady that brought 6 bags of Burger King on board and her son that kept kicking the window. This was, however I good flight as well. My apple juice from the flight-attendant was actually cold; a nice bonus.
Now comes the airport of doom.....
I arrived in Florida a little earlier than expected, around 11:40pm. I wasn't too tired, but knew I had a long night ahead of me. I walked threw the relatively empty airport amazed at the shopping mall attached to it. I got my luggage and found a nice spot and plopped down for what would be one of the WORST and LONGEST nights of my life.
This was the airport from midnight until around 7 am Sunday morning. Yes, I had to sit there with my luggage on the rock hard floor and try to get some sleep. Yeah right! I had made a reservation at a hotel, since my check-in day at the apartment wasn't until Monday, but the earliest time I could check in was 10 o'clock. I didn't want to pay for 2 nights, since I'd really only be there for one, so I just attempted to keep myself occupied and watched some movies on my computer. A MAJOR downside was that I was starving, hadn't eaten since Saturday morning and there was nothing open. My mom gave me some hot-gummy lips before I left that saved my life that night. Not only were they delicious, they were great entertainment.
I was sitting on the floor for half of the time and the janitorial staff was working. They have one of those ride-on vacuums and one of the cleaners kept doing figure 8's in front of me. It was kind of creepy so that made me hold on to my bags a little tighter. This was the bench that I had the misfortune of spending some time on while I was there for the LONG 9 hours.....It was a beast! Something you would find in the Martha Stewart collection at Kmart, most uncomfortable thing ever. And it was bolted to the ground, so no room for adjustment. Ugh, just was not a very good night.
But who cares! I'm in Florida, going to play at DisneyWorld and have a blast, so all is good :) I have another post coming soon about where I'm living and working. So stay tuned.....
I'm leaving today! And I still don't have anything packed! AHHH!!! Why am I such a procrastinator? Yes, today is the day before my exciting move to Florida. For those of you that don't know....I got my internship with the Disney company. I'm sorry for not being up to date on my blogging excitement, life has just been really busy! But yes, I got my internship with Disney and now it's off to the magical kingdom of faith, trust and pixie dust!
The Disney College Program, which is the thing I'm in, is set up for students to gain experience with the Disney company and have the opportunity to take specialized classes that go along with your major. For me that is business. I will be working the park whilst I'm there in the "Merchandise" role. Yes, I said role. But the REAL reason I'm going out there is to get rid of this freakishly pasty skin. No more Snow White! I wanna look just like this princess....
What an inspiration.
